Exorcising the Fear: British Sculpture from the 1950s, Pangolin London, until March 3 2012

Using the 60th Anniversary of the 1952 Venice Bienale as inspiration Pangolin London will be exhibiting some of the most influential sculptors from the 1950s and 1960s.
Taking the sixtieth anniversary year of the XXVI Venice Biennale of 1952 as its starting point Exorcising the Fear will explore a pivotal point in the history of British sculpture. Returning to the essay by Herbert Read which left an indelible mark on the history of art with the phrase ‘the geometry of fear’, the exhibition aims to recapture the excitement and vitality of the moment when eight young British sculptors –Robert Adams, Kenneth Armitage, Reg Butler, Geoffrey Clarke, Lynn Chadwick, Bernard Meadows, Eduardo Paolozzi and William Turnbull - burst on to an international scene and jump started a chain reaction that brought about a crucial sculptural renaissance in the history of British sculpture the impact of which can still be felt today.

Avenç is the title of the exhibition of the sculptures by Ramon M. Teixidó i CAMÍ, a permanent resident at the tallerBDN. The exhibition opens on Thursday 16 February at 8 PM at El Refugi (Plaza de la Vila, Badalona) and will be presented by Emili Muñoz, Professor of History and Art History.
With Avenç, Ramon M. Teixidó i CAMÍ wishes to resume the path of sculpture, a dream he has constantly pursued in the last years. Now, he finally has the time to devote to it. The exhibition will run until the 11th March and includes 24 sculptures and 17 texts written by the sculptor himself.
This is the text accompanying the sculpture ’Rellotge de l’avi’ (Grandfather’s clock):
The artefact? Strange and exceptional.
The numbering? No rhyme, almost impossible;
But its cogs and mechanism are updated, precision electronics.
The time seems approximate and unequivocal at the same time,
markedly accurate.
Everlasting.
